Micro Milling Techniques for High Precision Components

Hey Tonasco community! Today, we would like to talk about MicroMilling, small dimensions, less than 1mm. It involves cutters smaller than 1mm in diameter, with tolerances measured in microns. These tiny tools have unique material removal mechanisms, making them quite different from conventional cutting tools.

This small, complex, and high precision component of overall diameter Ø 7.8mm, with our micro endmills from NS TOOL CO., LTD. – the MHR230R and MRB230. They come with various diameter ranges such as Ø0.5mm, Ø0.8mm and Ø1.0mm. These micro endmills proved efficiency and precision in achieving the desired results.

MHR230R
• Flat Endmill with corner radius and back taper
• Overcome suppress chattering issue by point milling machining (tip cutting)
• Utilized for rib machining, deep shoulder, and pocket

MRB230
• Ball Endmill with long neck
• Utilized for small 3D machining and surface finishing

We are curious to know about your experiences! What interesting techniques or tips have you come across to achieve good surface finishes and high precision tolerances in micro-milling? Let’s be curious and share our knowledge!
